For this reason I went in expecting a whole lot of meh! Now Ragnarok was critically acclaimed, I never heard a bad thing about it despite the fact that I wasn't blown away by the trailer at all. I think the first two Thor feature films were passable efforts but paled in comparison to other heroes outings. Despite this, the pain the gods have caused Valkyrie and the loss of her girlfriend still haunts her.I admit it, I'm not exactly a Thor fan. It’s clear from Thompson’s acting in the scene, as well as how disillusioned she was with the Asgardian Royal family in Thor: Ragnarok, that she does hold them responsible for the loss of her family and loved ones however, she’s moved past that, as she not only trusts Thor, but she is now the leader Asgard needs. Case in point, when Gorr has her and the others captured, he points out how the other Valkyries died in the name of the gods, so in his eyes, they died for nothing. Thompson conveys so much remorse for her fallen sisters and girlfriend with just a simple look. It’s not just this revelation that this woman was Valkyrie’s girlfriend that showcases how tragic that loss was for the new King of Asgard. This also means Valkyrie likely saw this other warrior as her true love, one she could imagine a future like this with, hence why it’s hard for to think of another serious relationship without her. Korg then assumes it’s because of what happened to her girlfriend.
